Good News, I have just gotten off the phone with BestBuy who will be issuing a full refund of my purchase.
This morning I emailed the BestBuy supervisor indicating that I had posted my situation online and had over 2000 views so far (mostly between this posting and this forum post). I received a call this afternoon and they have agreed to refund the full price of my purchase, and that I should receive a check next week.
Now I’m off to the local mom and pop shops for a replacement where I can be sure to get a replacement with a hassle-free warranty.

That’s awesome! Now I’ll have to approach them about the digital picture frame I had in my online cart during their boxing day sale but couldn’t purchase because their friggin’ website kept crashing!

Hey man, glad that you got the issue resolved. But that supervisor you talked to on the phone didn’t know shit! I work for best buy so this is what i know…
Under PSP, if you are too far away from a best buy and they can’t come to your house or anything, you are automatically considered an international customer and you can get anyone to come and repair your product, your HDTV in this case, and then you call the 1-866-bestbuy number and they will fully reimburse you for the cost of repair. At least thats what i am told…
I always dislike having to call those support #’s…the people you talk to don’t know anything.
Anyways, glad you got your money back bud. What she told you on the phone was totally unacceptable and retarded. =)
